ABOUT THE CONFERENCE 

Changing Cities: Challenges, Predictions, Perspectives

18–19 June 2026, New Bulgarian University

  On 18–19 June 2026, New Bulgarian University (NBU) will host the Second International Conference “Changing Cities: Challenges, Predictions, Perspectives”, an international academic forum dedicated to contemporary urban transformations and challenges. 

    The conference is organised on the initiative of the Center for Multilingualism of NBU and Laboratory for Sustainable Development Practices, in partnership with the Departments of Administration and Management, Political Science, Economics, New Bulgarian Studies, and Architecture. The event is supported by the ERUA European University Alliance, the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe, and a wide range of institutional and academic partners.

AIMS & SCOPE

18–19 June 2026, New Bulgarian University

     The conference aims to provide an academic and civic platform for sharing research, analyses, and best practices related to the present and future of cities, sustainable urban development, and the social, economic, and cultural transformations of urban environments. It will feature theoretical and applied research presented by Bulgarian and international scholars, experts, and representatives of public authorities and civil society.

The forum will bring together established and early-career researchers, practitioners, and experts from more than 15 countries across Europe, North and South America, Africa, and Asia. The working languages of the conference are French and English.
